BÜYÜKDENİZ LAKE AND THE KAÇKAR MOUNTAINS It was October—specifically, the first of the month. Yes, it was the early hours of the morning once again. The only difference from other trips was that, despite it still being autumn, snow was already falling on the mountains. The *likarba* (wild blueberries) were just beginning to turn red. At first light, we headed to the Yukarı Kavron Plateau; after making our final preparations and shouldering our backpacks, we set off on foot. The air was cold and the journey long—how long, exactly? About 5 kilometers. After a long and exhausting trek, we arrived at the campsite, situated at an altitude of 3,150 meters. We spent two perfect days immersed in nature, experiencing moments that defy description; it is impossible for me to fully put it into words, but I believe that if you sit before this photograph and gaze at it for a few minutes, you will understand what I mean...
