Description

The Anafarta Martyrs' Cemetery is one of the authentic martyrs' cemeteries of Gallipoli; some of the soldiers who fell in battle on the Anafartalar Front in 1915 were buried in the Büyük Anafarta Village Cemetery. Consequently, the village cemetery also became a martyrs' cemetery. The Büyük Anafarta Martyrs' Cemetery is a significant site commemorating the 749 soldiers who lost their lives during the Gallipoli Campaign. Constructed in 2005, the cemetery is notable for its inscriptions in Ottoman Turkish and the names of the martyrs engraved in marble.
