Van Kalesi
Description
Van Castle is a fortification constructed from massive stone blocks by the Urartu Kingdom, offering a bird's-eye view of Tushpa, the Urartian capital. Situated on the shores of Lake Van and located 5 km from the city of Van, the castle was built atop a steep rocky outcrop. The structure measures 1,800 meters in length, 120 meters in width, and 80 meters in height. The castle was founded in the 9th century BC by Sarduri, son of Lutipri, between 840 BC and 825 BC.
