Balıklı Lake and the Haldizen Mountains The Haldizen Mountains are located within the boundaries of Demirkapı Village in the Çaykara District of Trabzon province. We were just two kilometers from the village when the vehicle's undercarriage became completely packed with snow, causing it to spin around on the road. Dawn was nearly breaking, and it was time to abandon the vehicle, however early it might have been. We checked our backpacks one last time and set off. We were left virtually speechless by the sight that greeted us upon arriving at the campsite. We had a journey of approximately 8 kilometers ahead of us; the entire area was blanketed in snow. Since we weren't following the main road, we plotted a shortcut, identified potential avalanche zones, and finalized our route—reducing the distance to about 5 kilometers. After conducting snow measurements to assess avalanche risks and adjusting our spacing, we began the trek.
