İznik tiles first emerged in the 15th century, influenced by blue-and-white ceramics from China. However, the production of İznik tiles began to decline in the 17th century and ceased completely by the early 18th century. After a hiatus of 300 years, Master Faik Kırım came to İznik from Istanbul in 1985 and established a workshop together with Eşref Eroğlu and his wife, Seyhan Eroğlu. The production of İznik tiles thus resumed.
